Stealey Community Fund
The Stealey Community Fund is administered by the Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley, Inc. (CFOV), with the advice of the Stealey Community Fund Advisory Board.
Ruth Stealey Green created the Stealey Community Fund as a memorial to her family. The Stealey family has a long history in the development of the Town of Middlebourne and its activities. Mrs. Green directed that the income from the fund was to be distributed, in the discretion of the Community Foundation’s Board of Directors, “. . . to educational, religious and community organizations and programs, which exist in the Middlebourne, West Virginia community, including organizations and programs situated outside the municipal boundaries of the Town of Middlebourne which benefit the residents of Middlebourne.” It was her desire that special consideration be given to programs and projects which will improve the quality of life of the residents of Middlebourne such as improved library, recreational, municipal and youth services.
To be eligible to receive a grant from the Stealey Community Fund, the organization applying must be qualified as exempt from Federal Income Tax under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code or be a similarly exempt government entity.
