Smith-Goshen Rice Enrichment Fund Accepting Applications

The Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley (CFOV) is pleased to announce the Smith-Goshen Rice Enrichment Fund (SGREF) is now accepting grant applications.

The Smith-Goshen Rice Enrichment Fund is an affiliate fund of CFOV and is comprised of Belmont County landowners and representatives of Rice Energy. Grants made from the fund are to be for the benefit of non-profit organizations in or serving Belmont County.

While the areas of focus are diverse, the Smith-Goshen Rice Enrichment Fund will not support salaries, fundraising events, scholarships or completed projects (debt reduction). Online grant applications will be accepted November 1 through December 16 and can be accessed by visiting

Since its start in 2013, the SGREF has granted nearly $120,000 to Belmont County organizations to support a wide range of projects, including hunger, historical restorations, wellness and community safety.

“We are happy to assist the advisory committee of the Smith-Goshen Rice Enrichment Fund as they thoughtfully consider grants for the benefit of Belmont County. The fund is making a significant impact through philanthropy and we encourage others to join in their efforts,” shared Susie Nelson, executive director of CFOV.
