Breaking Barriers for a Better Community (BBBC), formerly known as FACTS Impact, is a component fund of the Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley that was created by a group of community members wanting to address local challenges through philanthropy.
Grants from the BBBC Fund support organizations working to remove barriers to employment for individuals in the greater Wheeling area. BBBC members have a special interest in supporting collaborative projects that reduce or eliminate redundancy among non-profits.
Maximum request of $25,000.
Criteria to Apply:
* Applicant must be a tax-exempt organization under Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3), which includes churches, schools, nonprofit hospitals, support organizations to schools, governmental units (agencies, departments, etc.), and publicly supported organizations.
* Applicant must be in good standing with the IRS and with the Secretary of State’s office in its respective state.
* Applicant organization must be located in or serve the greater Wheeling area, defined as Ohio, Marshall, Brooke, and Belmont counties.
By May 20, 2024: CFOV completes internal screen of questionnaires and sends list of eligible potential grantees to BBBC Chair.
Mid May – end of August 2024: BBBC Research Committee convenes to review questionnaires and interview applicant organizations to determine who will be invited to submit a grant application.
Early September 2024: CFOV sends grant application forms to selected organizations.
September 30, 2024: Completed grant application forms are due back to CFOV.
By early November 2024: BBBC members review recommended awardees and vote on final recipients.
November 2024: CFOV notifies award recipients.
December 2024: CFOV sends checks to award recipients.
