EQT Establishes Students of Excellence Scholarship with CFOV

Scholarship benefits Belmont County students
(Application available here)

The Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley (CFOV) is pleased to announce a new scholarship initiative made possible by the EQT Foundation for the benefit of graduating seniors residing in Belmont County.

The EQT Students of Excellence Scholarship was established by the EQT Foundation to recognize high-performing students residing in the areas served by the company.  The scholarship fund will be awarding five $1,000 one-time scholarships and one renewable scholarship with an annual value of up to $18,000.

“The EQT Foundation strives to identify opportunities that impact the communities we serve in powerful ways. And, what better way to shape the future than by supporting the education of tomorrow’s leaders and innovators,” stated Ellen Rossi, EQT Foundation Manager. “We are pleased to offer our EQT Students of Excellence scholarship program to the Belmont County community through the assistance of the CFOV, and we look forward to learning more about the exceptional achievements and professional aspirations of this year’s scholarship recipients.”

The EQT Students of Excellence Scholarship is a significant addition to the scholarship portfolio offered by CFOV, which includes more than 70 scholarship funds.  Last year, CFOV scholarship funds provided $328,314 in scholarship awards to 153 students throughout the Ohio Valley.  CFOV scholarship recipients attend schools in our region and beyond, including UCLA, Case Western Reserve and Indiana University.

To be considered for an EQT Students of Excellence Scholarship, applicants must pursue either an associate or a bachelor’s degree in a field that is utilized by the energy industry. Additionally, scholarship applicants must demonstrate excellence in the following areas: academic performance, community involvement, extra-curricular activities and leadership.

“Scholarships make a difference for local students as they prepare to take the next step in their educational journey.  Through the generosity of donors like the EQT Foundation, we are so pleased to be able to offer this meaningful opportunity for Belmont County students,” shared Susie Nelson, executive director of CFOV.

Applications are now available for the EQT Students of Excellence Scholarship and may be accessed by visiting or through guidance offices in Belmont County high schools.  Applications must be returned to CFOV by April 12.  Questions may be directed to CFOV at 304-242-3144 or
