City, CFOV Partner to Facilitate Flood Relief Assistance
In light of recent damage caused by flash flooding on Sunday, July 23, the City of Wheeling is partnering with the Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley to facilitate donations toward citywide flood cleanup and relief.
Checks of any amount can be made out to the Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley with memo “flood” and mailed or dropped off to: 1310 Market Street, Wheeling, WV 26003. CFOV can be reached at 304-242-3144. All donations are tax-deductible.
Due to the extremely localized nature of this week’s flooding, the events have been precluded from state and federal relief. For this reason, donating to the Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley is one of the best ways to directly support local relief efforts.
Donated funds will be directed to the Community Foundation’s local contact for the West Virginia Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (WV VOAD), where they will be dispensed for relief efforts and flood cleanup-related projects. Generous donations will help to directly aid local needs of those affected by the recent flooding.
Among other needs, the local VOAD member agency has the capacity to provide disaster relief kits to fill the gaps in existing efforts. The agency also offers other packages, such as “STUFF” kits, which include Sheets, Towels, and Utensils for Families.
Please contact CFOV for more information about this opportunity to help neighbors in need.
