CFOV to Take Part in Statewide Giving Day

The Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley will be taking part in Philanthropy West Virginia’s Take 5 to Give 5 online giving day, a statewide effort held in conjunction with the worldwide Giving Tuesday Now on May 5.

Philanthropy WV, the state’s philanthropic leadership network, is hosting the campaign which will benefit COVID-19 relief funds across the state.  The 24-hour campaign encourages all West Virginians to take five minutes to make a financial contribution to nonprofit relief funds across 53 counties responding to communities’ needs, including CFOV’s Emergency Impact Fund.  The Emergency Impact Fund, created in response to the pandemic, provides flexible operating grants to area nonprofit organizations working to maintain services with decreasing means of support.  The fund has already awarded nearly $100,000 in grants and the need continues to increase.

The Take 5 to Give 5 campaign includes a match from generous sponsors.  The match makes each gift greater, ultimately making more support possible during these challenging times.

“CFOV is a proud member of Philanthropy WV.  The Take 5 to Give 5 campaign is a wonderful demonstration of West Virginia resiliency and provides a unique opportunity to support the essential work happening in communities throughout our great state,” shared Susie Nelson, executive director of CFOV.

“The applications we have received for our Emergency Impact Fund certainly suggest area nonprofits are doing more with less.  As a community foundation, we are interested in providing opportunities that will allow these important organizations to be in the best position possible now and after the pandemic.  Funds raised through the Take 5 to Give 5 campaign will enhance these efforts.”

The event will launch at midnight on Tuesday, May 5.  Those interested in supporting CFOV’s Emergency Impact Fund through the Take 5 Give 5 campaign can visit here.
