CFOV to Host Continuing Education Event
The Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley (CFOV), with support from WesBanco, is hosting a continuing education seminar for local legal and finance professionals. The seminar is scheduled for June 1 at Wilson Lodge and will begin with registration and breakfast at 7:45 a.m.
“Charitable Trusts and Tax Reform Overview” will offer attendees an opportunity to learn more about the structure of charitable trusts, as they are important components of charitable planned giving. Additionally, recent developments in tax reform have resulted in changes that will likely have an impact on charitable giving. These topics are especially relevant in the legal, finance and banking industries and will provide attendees with enhanced knowledge ultimately benefiting the clients they serve.
Presenters for the seminar include David R. Croft and Charles J. Kaiser. Croft, presenting on tax reform, is part of the Spilman, Thomas and Battle firm and his primary areas of focus include tax law and estate planning. Kaiser, a partner with Phillips, Gardill, Kaiser and Altmeyer, will be detailing the intricacies of charitable planned giving and how charitable trusts can be of value.
“We are very fortunate to have such esteemed experts willing to address these important topics to our local professional advisors. I have heard both of them present and they are very knowledgeable on these issues,” shared Susie Nelson, executive director of CFOV.
The cost for the seminar is $25 and includes breakfast and course materials. The course has been approved for 2.0 CLE credits for practitioners in Ohio and Pennsylvania and 2.4 CLE credits for West Virginia practitioners. The course has also been approved for 2.0 CPE credit hours for West Virginia practitioners and is eligible for Ohio CPE credits.
