2016 Scholarship Applications Now Available

Wheeling, WV –   The Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley (CFOV) announces that 2016 scholarship applications are now available online at  Applications will be accepted through March 1, 2016.

The Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley administers over 60 scholarship funds for a variety of opportunities.  Last year, CFOV awarded more than $140,000 in scholarships to 105 students throughout the Upper Ohio Valley.  Scholarships ranging in amounts from $250 to $6,000 were awarded to students from over 20 different High Schools in Ohio and West Virginia.

Community Foundation scholarships are as unique as the individual donor.  Scholarships are awarded for specific areas of study, such as engineering, business, nursing, teaching, coaching, communications, and music.  Others are specific to the high school from which the student graduates or for the college they plan to attend.  Many of the Community Foundation’s scholarships were established in memory of loved ones who were committed to their community and to the future of the young people in it.

Students are encouraged to submit their applications by the March 1 deadline according to the submission instructions with each application. Following review by the selection committees, students will be notified of their awards in May.

Since 1972, The Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley has connected people who care with causes that matter by making grants to organizations working to improve the Upper Ohio Valley. With assets of more than $34 million, the Foundation assisted in making more than $2.2 million in grants and scholarships last year. From strengthening community schools to assisting local arts programs, from building health centers to helping lives affected by violence or natural disasters, the Foundation continues to enhance our region.
