Foundation Facts
- Founded in 1972, The Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley, Inc. is one of the more than 750 community foundations throughout the United States
- One of the largest local organizations providing funding to Upper Ohio Valley nonprofits, the Foundation has assets of more than $55 million
- Since 1972, the Foundation has granted millions to local groups working to improve life in the region
- The Foundation employs six full-time staff – an executive director, a development director, two program officers, a finance professional and an office manager
- The Foundation’s Board of Trustees is comprised of 20 community leaders from diverse backgrounds and areas of expertise
- Many dedicated community volunteers support the Foundation through committee work and project involvement
- The Foundation keeps administrative costs low to maximize community support
- The Foundation assists organizations working in the areas of arts, basic human needs, community development, education, health and more
- The Foundation works one-on-one with local donors to help them manage their charitable giving, and offers several ways to achieve charitable goals
- The Foundation serves as a civic leader, connecting people and organizations to issues important to the region
- The Foundation administers more than 70 scholarship funds for the benefit of local students
