CFOV Launches Two Grant Programs

The Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley (CFOV) is gearing up for a busy grant season as two large programs opened for application on September 19.

The Community Impact Fund, a competitive grant-making program funded through various unrestricted, field of interest and donor-advised funds of the Foundation, will be accepting letters of intent from September 19 through October 28.   Any 501(c)3 organization, faith-based organization or government entity (schools, libraries, etc.) serving Hancock, Brooke, Ohio, Marshall, Wetzel or Tyler counties in West Virginia or Belmont or Jefferson counties in Ohio is welcome to submit a letter.

The Foundation has identified areas of focus for the grant program and include economic development, children and youth in need, the arts and wellness.  Organizations seeking support for projects beyond those focus areas are welcome to express interest as CFOV recognizes and values projects that could be a great benefit to the community.   Letters of intent will be reviewed and select organizations will be invited to submit a full grant application.

The second CFOV administered program accepting grant applications is the Women’s Giving Circle.  The application period will open September 19 and conclude November 4.  The giving circle is a component fund of the Foundation and seeks to empower women through philanthropy and has awarded $165,354 in grants since its inception.  Applicant organizations must hold 501(c)3 status and serve Hancock, Brooke, Ohio, Marshall, Wetzel or Tyler counties in West Virginia or Belmont or Jefferson counties in Ohio.

The Women’s Giving Circle seeks to fund organizations that increase life skills for women and girls, encourage the healthy development and personal authority of young girls or raise awareness of gender disparities in our communities.  The following are excluded from consideration: organizations that promote a particular religious or political ideology; capital campaigns or endowments; dinner galas, advertising and other special fundraising events; contributions to the general fund of an organization; intermediary funding agencies; and scholarships.  The Women’s Giving Circle does not use a letter of intent process so applicants will be submitting complete grant proposals.
